[NOTE: This message was originally published February 11, 2006.]
All you saints! Sing your hearts out to God! Thank him to his face!
He gets angry once in a while, but across a lifetime there is only love. The nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter.
Psalm 30:4-5 (Message*)
Over and over, the scriptures call for us to show our thankfulness to God. Often the call is exuberant in character, as in this psalm. Our thankfulness is not to be rote or perfunctory; it is to be with all our hearts.
Why should we be so thankful? Because across our whole lifetimes, there is only love from God. Can the depth of our thankfulness match the depth of God's love for us?
Do you recognize the depth and constancy of God's love for you? Are you exuberant in thanking God for this amazing love?
