Friends in Christ Weekly Message
August 3, 2000

As I speak to your heart in silence,
You will hear my command.
You must love one another.
Love all I send your way.
I will show my love for you,
by sending you others to love.

My love is a gift to you.
Give my other children a present from us.
Give them unspeakable joy.
Give them an understanding smile.
Give them a reassuring hug.
And bless them with a silent prayer.

Written by Jackie Phillmore-Antoine, July 29, 2000

The above was given to Jackie, part of the Friends in Christ Core Ministry Team, while she was sitting in the silence in our weekly worship experience. She wrote it down, and later shared it with the group.

Be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10)

When our lives are constantly frenetic, it is very hard for us to hear God speaking to us. The noise and activity of our lives drowns out God's voice.

We need to set aside our busyness and take time just to listen to what God has to say to us and consider how we need to change to be faithful. We need to do this daily as individuals, and we are helped when we do it corporately in the faith community. When we listen, we will find God directing our paths so that we serve as living witnesses to God's message, the Good News, to each person.

Have you taken time to truly listen to God today?

Bill Samuel
