Friends in Christ Weekly Message
January 9, 2001
The life-giving fountain belongs to you,
and your light gives light to each of us.
Psalm 36:9 (CEV*)
But no one who drinks the water I give will ever be thirsty again. The water I give is like a flowing fountain that gives eternal life.
John 4:14 (CEV*)
We know that water is essential to life. If we lack water, we will eventually die. If the water we drink is seriously contaminated, we may also die.
Just as physical water is essential to our physical lives, so the living water of Jesus Christ is essential to our spiritual lives. If we refuse to drink this living water, we will die spiritually.
Blessedly, there is no shortage of this living water. Christ offers us a flowing fountain that never runs dry. The supply is unlimited. The source is pure.
How do we drink this living water? We first need to step up to the fountain. We need to bring ourselves to Christ so that our spiritual lives can be refreshed. No long trip is needed. Christ wants to live within us, ever sustaining us.
What are some of the ways we drink this living water? We offer praise. We pray. We serve others. We share the good news. We live Christ-like lives. These things may not always seem easy, but they will refresh us.
Dear friends, drink up!
