Friends in Christ Weekly Message

God always does what he says,
     and is gracious in everything he does.

God gives a hand to those down on their luck,
     gives a fresh start to those ready to quit.

All eyes are on you, expectant;
     you give them their meals on time.

Generous to a fault,
     you lavish your favor on all creatures.

Everything God does is right -
     the trademark on all his works is love.

God's there, listening for all who pray,
     for all who pray and mean it.
Psalm 145:13b-18 (Message*)

This is reputed to be a psalm of praise written by David. In praising God, David notes some of the character traits of God.

We can count on God to do what He says, and to be gracious in doing it. God looks out for those who are down on their luck or discouraged. God is generous to a fault. God lavishes favor on all creatures.

David sums up these character traits by noting that "the trademark on all his works is love." Isn't it wonderful that we have such a loving God? Do we respond to this great love with praise and thankfulness, and by sharing God's love with others?

The final reflection in this brief passage notes that we have a God who listens. God listens to all who pray and mean it. Dear friends, may we respond to God with thanksgiving, with praise and with the prayers of our hearts.
