I trust you to save me,
Lord God, and I won't be afraid.
My power and my strength
come from you, and you have saved me.
Isaiah 12:2 (CEV*)
Always be glad because of the Lord! I will say it again: Be glad.
Philippians 4:4 (CEV*)
In whom or what do we place our trust? This question is critical. We need to examine ourselves, and see how we answer this in the way we live our lives. Do we live what we profess?
The prophet Isaiah trusted God, and therefore was not afraid although he faced difficult circumstances. Do we have such trust in God that we are free from fear?
Isaiah acknowledged that his power and strength came from the Lord. Do we trust fully in God's power and strength, or do we foolishly rely on our own?
One of the fruits of total reliance upon God is that we are glad in all circumstances. Are we always glad because of the Lord, or do we get discouraged because we are not looking beyond worldly circumstances to the hope and promises of God?
