Friends in Christ Weekly Message
May 12, 2007

I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
Revelation 21:22 (NIV*)

This is from John the Revelator's vision of the new Jerusalem. There was no need for a physical temple, since the Lord God served as its temple.

For us, we should consider the degree to which we rely on physical places of worship and other accoutrements of religion. To what extent are they serving as pointers for us to Christ and to what extent are they actually serving in place of Christ in our hearts and minds?

Christ is present here and now to serve as our true teacher, priest and guide. Are we allowing Christ to serve in these roles in our lives?

Bill Samuel
