Friends in Christ Weekly Message
January 1, 2011
[NOTE: This message was originally published May 9, 2001.]
God's home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people. He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever.
Revelation 21:3-4 (CEV*)
Many people think of God as some distant being or force. I feel sorry for them. God is not a distant being, little concerned with you or me. God yearns to live with us!
The intimacy of God with his people is a theme repeated over and over in the New Testament. In some ways, this theme comes to ultimate fruition here near the end of the last book of the New Testament with these graphic images.
The promise is of a God at home with us, tenderly wiping our tears away. In God's deep love for us, he seeks to remove all our suffering and pain.
This tender love of God fills my life with joy and thankfulness. I can't imagine living life without this sense of God's loving presence. Knowing that many do makes we want to share the Good News of this boundless love.
Dear friends, live in the love of God for you. Give thanks each day for this wonderful gift. Let others know that the gift is for them as well.
