Friends in Christ Weekly Message
September 15, 2012

[NOTE: This message was originally published September 13, 2003.]
The Lord God gives me the right words to encourage the weary.
Isaiah 50:4a (CEV*)

People often get tired and discouraged. Christ seeks to be a source of comfort and encouragement for them. We can be His instruments for that work.

A study by Mark Virkler reveals that eighty percent of most Christian's thoughts are negative. That is not how Christ intends us to be! If we are truly filled with the spirit of Christ, we will have a very positive attitude. If we don't, we need to be encouraged.

Believers should be encouraging one another. We should be reminding each other of God's blessings, and how that is reflected in the spiritual gifts of each one of us. For those who do not yet have faith in Christ, we can encourage them by letting them know they are truly loved by the God of the universe.

Who have you encouraged lately? Who around you needs encouragement? May we each be encouragers, trusting the Lord God to give us the right words to encourage others.

Bill Samuel
