So, my disciples, always be ready! You don't know the day or the time when all this will happen.
Matthew 25:13 (CEV*)

From time to time, some Christian leader declares they know when the present age will end, ushering in a time when Christ's reign will be fully manifest. But in this verse, Jesus seems to be telling us that we don't know the time.

Although we don't know the time when this all will come to fruition, the apostolic church lived with a sense of urgency for the time, and this has been true for most major Christian renewal movements throughout history. While we can't know a specific time to come which has particular ultimate significance, we are called to live in readiness.

To always be ready we need to stay in union with Christ. There are not times to be concerned with matters of faith, and times not to be. We are to be living lives of faith in which the Spirit of Christ lives inside of us 24/7.

We need to stay tuned to the divine call on our lives. Then we will be ready for whatever comes, whether “end times” or not.
