Friends in Christ Weekly Message
November 22, 2014

[NOTE: This message was originally published February 26, 2005.]
Sing joyful songs to the Lord!
Praise the mighty rock where we are safe.
Come to worship him
with thankful hearts and songs of praise.

The Lord is the greatest God, king over all other gods.
He holds the deepest part of the earth in his hands,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The ocean is the Lord's because he made it,
and with his own hands he formed the dry land.

Bow down and worship the Lord our Creator!
The Lord is our God, and we are his people,
the sheep he takes care of in his own pasture.

Listen to God's voice today!

Psalm 95:1-7 (CEV*)

This is an ancient hymn, a song of praise. In all generations, we should be praising the Lord, coming to "worship him with thankful hearts and songs of praise."

Why should we worship and praise God? This song gives two broad reasons. The first is that he is the creator of this marvelous universe in which we live. The second is that we are his people and he takes care of us. He is an awesome God capable of doing things far beyond us, yet he does not stay distant but personally cares for each of us. Praise God!

Are you full of thankfulness and praise for our God? Do you take time to worship him? Are you filled with awe at his creation and humble gratitude for his care for us?
