Friends in Christ Weekly Message

     Father, I don't ask you to take my followers out of the world, but keep them safe from the evil one. They don't belong to this world, and neither do I. Your word is the truth. So let this truth make them completely yours. I am sending them into the world, just as you sent me. I have given myself completely for their sake, so that they may belong completely to the truth.
John 17:15-19 (CEV*)

As Christians, we don't belong to this world. However, we are in it, and Jesus prays that we are kept safe from the evil one. God's truth makes us completely God's.

Christ sends us into the world, just as God sent Jesus. As Jesus did, we are to testify with our lives to God's love and truth.

Christ gave himself completely for us. This was so we may belong completely to the truth. Just as Jesus stood firm for God's truth in the face of all opposition, so are we to stand firm to the truth, not temporizing at all.

Dear friends, may we live in the world fully as examples of God's love, truth and power to others. May we allow Christ to fill us, so that we belong completely to Him, and are safe from all the temptations of the world. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
