Friends in Christ Weekly Message
December 5, 2015

He went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah,

“The voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
     make his paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled,
     and every mountain and hill shall be made low,
and the crooked shall be made straight,
     and the rough ways made smooth;
and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’”

Luke 3:3-6 (NRSV*)

At Dayspring Church, where I worship, during Advent we begin worship by singing "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord." We are harking back to the promises of the prophet Isaiah retold by John the Baptist.

This tells the Good News of repentance for the forgiveness of our sins, and of the opportunity for all flesh to see the salvation of God. This is the way of the Lord Jesus Christ, who John was announcing. It is fantastic news!

Do you believe these promises? How are you living into them? Are you sharing the Good News with others?

Bill Samuel
