Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord was pleased with him.
Genesis 15:6 (CEV*)
Abram and his wife Sarai were old. She was beyond menopause. What the Lord told Abram was that they were going to have a son, and that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky.
From a worldly point of view, what the Lord told Abram was almost impossible to believe. But Abram trusted the Lord so much that he put aside his normal reaction, and believed what God told him. Most people would not have. So the Lord had very good reason to be pleased with Abram.
How do we respond when God's still, small voice tells us something that's almost impossible to believe from our normal human reasoning? Do we discount what we have heard because it is so hard to believe? Or do we trust God, and be willing to face criticism from those around us who will find us very foolish, and believe the message He has given us?
