Friends in Christ Weekly Message
March 13, 2004

You are my God. I worship you. In my heart, I long for you,
as I would long for a stream in a scorching desert.

Psalm 63:1 (CEV*)

Turn to the Lord!
He can still be found. Call out to God! He is near.

Isaiah 55:6 (CEV*)

In the first scripture, David is calling out to God from the desert. What he expresses is what should be in our hearts. We should be filled with longing for God, and be worshipping Him with every fiber of our being.

In the second scripture, the prophet calls on the people to turn to God. Isaiah assures them that God is near. Like the Israelites, we sometimes feel like God is distant or absent. But Isaiah's message is always correct. The Lord is near, and we can call out to Him.

Do you acknowledge God as your God? Do you worship Him, without reservation? Is your heart filled with longing for God, knowing that He has the Living Water which can quench your spiritual thirst? Do you recognize that the Lord is near? Do you call out to Him in prayer each day?

Bill Samuel
