Friends in Christ Weekly Message
December 12, 2009

The crowd asked him, “Then what are we supposed to do?”
“If you have two coats, give one away,” he said. “Do the same with your food.”
Tax men also came to be baptized and said, “Teacher, what should we do?”
He told them, “No more extortion - collect only what is required by law.”
Soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?”
He told them, “No shakedowns, no blackmail - and be content with your rations.”

Luke 3:10-14 (Message*)

John the Baptist preached repentance, which is turning from one way to another. True repentance involves our whole person, and can be seen in the way we behave. John advised all who asked that they needed to act differently now that they had received the baptism of repentance.

Does the way we act reflect the faith we profess?

Bill Samuel
